The Gateway Upgrade North is being constructed by Lendlease and major works are now underway on the project.

The project team has established worksites at locations along the motorway, between Nudgee and Bracken Ridge. The project’s main site office is located at 7 Depot Road, Deagon and also features the Visitor Information Centre.

Other sites are located at Racecourse Road, Deagon, Sandgate Road, Boondall, at the Bicentennial Road interchange and Queens Road, Nudgee. These sites will be used to facilitate major works on the project, as well as store materials and provide facilities for the work force throughout construction.

Managing construction impacts

Careful consideration is given to construction-related impacts before starting each stage of works and the project team will endeavour to minimise any construction impacts, where possible.

The Contractor appointed to design and construct the upgrade, Lend Lease, will put in place mitigation measures to manage impacts, such as noise, dust and vibration, across the project during construction.

Proven mitigation measures, such as covering truck loads and using water carts on-site, will be used to help reduce dust from construction activities. However, it is important to note that some dust will still result from the construction works.

It is important to note that Lendlease will undertake noise and vibration modelling to ensure they can implement appropriate techniques to manage any construction impacts. The team will also monitor the levels of noise, dust and vibration throughout construction, to ensure compliance with the standards set in the project’s Environmental Management Plan.
