First newly widened lanes open to traffic

The newly widened Gateway Motorway lanes between Nudgee and Deagon were made available for traffic last week, as final work progresses to complete the Gateway Upgrade North project.

Three motorway lanes are now available to motorists between Southern Cross Way and Depot Road, Deagon (northbound) and southbound between the Sandgate Road bridges and Nudgee.

The newly opened stretch will be temporarily posted at 80km/hour, before final works are completed progressively in in early 2019, and the speed limit will be increased.

The project is currently progressing with the placement of the final layer of asphalt surfacing along the motorway between Deagon and Bracken Ridge. These works include new line marking and signage, and installation of Intelligent Transport Systems.

These remaining works will continue and are scheduled for completion progressively into early 2019.
