Local road’s work continuing in earnest

Upgrades to local roads surrounding the Gateway Motorway are progressing well. These works compliment the major motorway works – improving the safety and efficiency of the network to the north.

Depot Road

The final stage of the Depot Road upgrade continues, with remaining construction activities on Depot Road, Deagon expected to be finalised in mid-2018.

Since the final stage of the road upgrade began in late 2017, a number of key construction milestones have already been achieved. These include completing road widening works in the westbound lanes (between Braun Street and the Gateway Motorway ramps), as well as the permanent realignment of the Depot Road northbound and southbound on-ramps and the Depot Road northbound off-ramp.

The final and current stage of the Depot Road upgrade involves works at the Depot Road/Braun Street/Board Street/Deagon Deviation intersection. This works includes installating new traffic lights, concrete medians and traffic islands at the intersection and installing a new gantry at the Deagon Deviation. The project is also widening the Depot Road eastbound roadway between the Gateway Motorway ramps and Braun Street.

More information about the Depot Road upgrade works can be found here.

Sandgate Road/Holroyd Street intersection

The upgrade of the Sandgate Road/Holroyd Street intersection is also continuing with major construction activities scheduled to start at the intersection in April. This upgrade, which includes signalising the intersection, is being undertaken to ease congestion and improve safety and connectivity for all road users including motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
